More than 20 million big and tall men in the U.S. now have a world champion in their corner. This spring, George Foreman makes his foray into fashion with the launch of two new clothing lines available exclusively at America’s largest specialty store retailer of big and tall men’s clothing, Casual Male Big & Tall.

Foreman’s Signature Collection and Comfort Zone lines satisfy any big and tall man’s clothing needs with fashions ranging from tuxedos to athletic wear. More importantly, they were created to address important fit issues experienced by more than 70 percent of big and tall men. “When Foreman, started with the grill back in 1996, it brought in $5 million, but last year, it brought in about $400 million. Imagine what it can do in apparel,” noted David Levin, CEO/President of Casual Male Corporations. “And the strength of the George Foreman brand might well jumpstart the formerly bankrupt Casual Male Big & Tall chain.”

George Foreman is not only a big man, who wears the size range clothes that Casual Male offers, but a tremendous brand. His name will add visibility to Casual Male. Men who wear larger sizes are still very under-represented in terms of fashion and brands, especially compared to what women are offered in plus sizes. Another selling point for Foreman’s signature line is high-tech features that have been driving sales in other Casual Male lines.

Big and tall men want to look good without sacrificing comfort, and the George Foreman line at Casual Male will give men many more options that will allow them to do so. These options include the extremely popular hidden expandable waist features. More uniquely, the range features dress shirts with hidden expansion panels at the neckline, so top buttons can stay comfortably secured.

This new line is a major step forward in gaining increased recognition for the company as the premier retailer of men’s big and tall apparel on a national scale.

To Whom It May Concern:

This message is to inform you of my concerns with a commercial that was recently viewed by me and my classmates. It shows the process of how you prepare you model for a photoshoot, then the digital alterations that follow. I am not pleased with the way you transform a woman’s natural beauty to technological beauty. I believe this is a very unethical because it is diminishing the beauty of a real person. Our perception of beauty is very distorted.

To begin with every model is a average person, what they are made into is a different story. After all the make-up and hair is done she is turned into a different person. When a women is cosmetically designed it brings about a different personality in her. However, the slimness or fatness in her face and neck doesn’t change. The length of her neck does not grow longer and then by the end of the day go back to its normal length. The only time a person skin complexion change is when the seasons change. All the changes were done to the model in the video with-in an hour. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could glamorize our self for just a few hours by taking a digital picture, turning our imperfection into perfection then turning back into our normal look.

The perfect model is seen ideally as skinny women, being 5’8 or taller, no stomach to the point were you can see her ribcage, having flawless skin, perfect bone structure and last but not least long scarless legs. This is what young girls see on television when they look at models. So this is what young teenage girls strive to look like. What I think is anorexia. Modeling is what a lot of young girls want to do when they get older, but they don’t know the realness of the industry. The modeling industry is influencing young girls to look like what they call the average women. This play a important role on young girls lives because if they are striving to look like what they call the average women, they are not expressing there real beauty. This may cause eating disorders, baleamic and other health issues. Just because the digital woman that your company portrays to be real.

You are not exemplifying what it is to be a real women that is beautiful and comfortable with who she is. Compare my opinion to your product, this is just like saying that your facial wipes are the best for cleaning your face, it eliminates pimples and blemishes and decrease intensity of wrinkles. Now remember this is just what you advertise but realistically your product is just an astringent on a cloth. An astringent only cleans the skin and constricts the pores, not all the other abilities that you promote. There is a lot of false advertising going on and you are fabricating the effectiveness of the product. You are fabricating the beauty of a real women. I personally would prefer to see the woman before you customized on a billboard rather than the customized woman.

This assignment is to view a movie or video in the last five years and make a list of all the products placed strategically in the film that you think was put there on purpose, to make money for producer and to advertise. For this assignment I chose to a video on YouTube that combines a plethora of products placed in different videos. I decided to not just focus on one video simply because you don’t see a range to many different products in one video. The video I have chosen advertise products like cleaning utensils, food, cars, cell phones, money, shoes, clothes being used by different major celebrities.

Celebrities that are famous today and have a major influence on generations and play a big role on the dreams, goals and aspirations we set for ourselves. We are amazed at there lifestyles, the money they have, the cars the drive and even the people they have relationships with. A major couple in this industry is Beyonce and Jay-Z. There are many of men in this world that dream of having Beyonce, and many women who has a goal of getting a millionaire man like Jay-Z. Together this dominant couple brought in $162 million in 2008. From the music and movies they are starring in that we admire so much. Simply because of the products placed in the film, the cars they advertise, the clothes they wear and the money they acquire.

In the beginning of the video you see Jessica Simpson on her knees scrubbing a kitchen floor with a Swiffer cleaner. Now just because this product is being used by Jessica, does it mean that more people with marble floors will go buy it? Or are they going to buy it because it actually cleans the floor very well? I would hope that someone wouldn’t go but this just because they are a fan Jessica Simpson. Consider what the product is for and not who it is used by. This product I don’t think was remembered in a positive way. I believe that people made jokes about her cleaning rather than noticed the actual mop.

A cellular device being used by Missy Elliot and Black Eye Peas, who has a numerous amount of fans. So how much popular does it make the phone? When you see a celebtiry using this device, you would think it cost a lot or it is the best just because they have it. However, the features of the phone need to be considered. The device could be a PDA phone which is mainly used for business productions. These type of phones are not big on entertaining the user, like having ringtones, games and different applications. In today’s generation the type of phones we like are the phones that have major applications, games and do voice command things of that nature. One major phone that is out today is the I-phone like I have, which I talked about in a previous blog. I never put it down, I have seen plenty of I-phone in movies, videos and tv shows but this is not the reason I purchased. I already knew how expensive it was but being the technological guru that I am, I just had to have it. But the whether the characteristics of the phone match the average person or not they will still buy simply because of the person they idolize have the phone. The strategy of putting phones in movies and videos I believe is very successful because people by phones everyday and what would make them want to buy it even more is to see someone that is very popular with the device.

There is no end to the list of wish cars that person may have. In this video I seen a Jeep, Mosserrati, Mazda, Mercedes Benz all being driven by popular people. These are the type of cars that people dream of waking up to and driving everyday. Right now my dream car is a Sport Range Rover in dusty orange with chrome lining on the outside, 26 inch rims and chocolate brown interior. The people that I admire in the music and film industry could buy this car with no problem. However, this will not happen to me until a few years after I pursue my career and have built a very wealthy bank account. Placing these fancy cars in videos, movies and television shows are very successful at fulfilling our dreams of someday buying them.

Products like Axe spray and Louis Vuitton purses are very popular to no just famous people but the status of upper and middle class people. These products already major to many of people due to cross advertising. There are thousands of men in the US that purchases Axe spray not because of product placement but because of the entertaining commercials. When the man sprays it on there bodies it attract a lot of women and naturally that is what men want. Louis Vuitton is a very popular apparel, quite expensive but some people can still manage to buy it. This product has been placed in many of different movies, tv shows and videos. Musicians and actors wear it on the clothes, shoes, purses, accessories and more. They even get this as a fabric interior in there vehicles. When viewers see stars with it inside of there car they think that is a popular trend and will do the samething. Shoes are a major product in entertainment that fans stay focus on. Actors, sports players and musicians have there own clothing line that we are attracted to. So they advertise it in there movies and videos, we see it, we like it, we buy it. These products are not just being advertised to us on out television but also on our computers and cell phones. And what makes it even more successful, is the product being promoted through social media. Imitating the icons make us feel just as famous as them.

As a third year college student here at Towson University, I have had my share of experiences with sex, lies, alcohol and even violence. When entering college everyone gets introduced to these things. It’s up to you whether you want to part take in them or not. During the first week of school there are parties left and right on campus, a person house right down the street and local clubs. Welcoming parties that everyone will be at and so will every intoxication substance you can think of. Alcohol has an affect on students all year around, students don’t have to be at partied to get drunk. They feel the urge on their own to drink whenever, chilling in the house, doing homework or watching sports.

The video Spin The Bottle depicts a lot of topics and situations that illustrates how alcohol affects college students. Alcohol is like another life that we befriend very easily and confide in whenever we feel the need and want. Usually before parties, to get the mood right, when you are mad or sad, when eating out and for a variety of other reasons. But the affects that drinking has on college student behavior is growing. Mainly because the people you are surrounded by, I believe that our peers have a major influence. To some people alcohol is a necessary part of the college experience. However, we are not only influence by our peers but the entertainment that we consider interesting. Movies, television shows and videos show the glamorous side of alcohol, which is very true. Movies like American Pie, Road Trip is based on college students but within the plot shows the alcoholic use of college students. So when we see people we consider celebrities and idols do it, then we think it is cool to do it also. In some way alcohol is constantly promoted, advertised and targeted to young people. Music video like Pass the Courvoisier, Drink and My 2-Step, We Get Wasted and many more.

Events that have alcohol leads to uncontrollable actions that a lot of people regret the next or day cant even remember. Laying on the floor half naked, stripping, fighting, missing class, unable to function, drunk driving, sex with unknown people, date rape, killing people, alcohol poisoning this list goes on. It also lead to health problems like insomnia, cold, bronchitis, mono, influenza and much more. Also academic issues like missing class, falling behind, can’t focus and other reasons. I believe the academics are left up to the person, because you know if you have a exam the next day or major assignment but you choose to go out, party and get drunk. Where are your priorities? And academic excellence? Whether you decide to stay home and study or get the assignment done it left up to you. But at the end of the day the decisions is your, some will regret there decision, don’t care what happens or make the benefitting decision.

Alcohol has a powerful influence on men, it reflects how they think, feel, how they behave, what they say and do. They say that real men can go all night without vomiting, passing out or being the first to quit. But can be the first to fight, riot and vandalize. They are influence by popular men and shows like The Man Show and wrestlers like Stone Cold when he drinks beers on the show. Not only is he influencing grown men but little boys who likes him as a wrestler. So when you have little boys who want to wrestle and do what he does, they are going to think it is alright to drink also. When does alcohol dependence begins? At a very young age, teens who are fifteen and younger become alcohol dependent. Drinking is suppose to reveal a message in a bottle to women, that when you drink you become a new person. You feel sexier, more beautiful and this is want a man wants. Intoxication can lead to blurred vision, when men get very drunk they see what they want, this leads to unwanted relations with other people.

The alcohol industry encourages women to drink like them, compete with them and think they are on the same status. Women loosen up, become a new person, and do unexpected things sex being the main issue. When women get drunk and have sex with someone and regret it the next day or unwanted pregnancy, people put us a fault. But when a man does it and get charged, they are looked at a just being drunk and can’t control their actions. This is something I don’t agree with at all because we are both human and make good and bad decisions. Just because he is a male that mean he don’t take responsibility and not held accountable for his actions. But the girl get called all types of names, and she was asking for it and got to take all the responsibility. But if they both ended up together in the same place, then what was he asking for? They are both intoxicated, committing the same sexual crime, so they both should be held responsible.

Spin the Bottle touched on a lot of realistic situations that occur in college students worlds. It illustrates mainly how alcohol influence our action, behavior, sexual relations and decisions. We are pressured by our peers, friends, and entertainment but only we make the final decision of how we want alcohol to play a role in our life.

As a third year college student with nothing but academics on your mind. How many sporting events can you honestly say you have attended? Now there are two sides to the story of why I have not attended many games since I have being going to Towson University. My first year of college as freshman, living in a dorm you are introduced to a lot of different things. I moved off campus into a apartment after my freshman year. But while living on campus I did find myself being engaged in a lot of activities. I joined Campus Activity Board (CAB), Sports Editor of the yearbook and attended games and other activities. While being apart of CAB, I helped sell items at football and basketball games. The sports games seemed to be so interesting because they were being promoted everywhere and you even heard your friends talking about them repeatedly. What entitled me the most to attend the games was that I was the Sports Editor, so I had to be there to make sure my crew was fulfilling there duties. Collecting stats, taking pictures, interviewing the players and many other things.

Everyday attending my first class I picked up a school newspaper “The Towerlight” and either on the front page or somewhere there after was the team schedule. Or a big picture of a star player cropped out with the ball in play giving the specifics of the next game if not that day. All around campus sporting events are being advertised to the students to build the numbers in participation. My roommate and I found ourselves attending all the games that we possibly could. Simply because we was notified everywhere we went around campus or our friends dragged us to them. There are posters around campus in the buildings, café’s, and dorms. There is the big digital screen with the scrolling word in front of Stephens Hall. Now at the bus stops, they have put cases over the seats at the bus stops, in the inside there is a slot for posters. And what do you think is inside of the slot? Posters with the sports schedule inside of them. The electronic newspaper the students receive the “Daily Digest” even advertise the games. Whatever the sports committee had to do to circulate the importance of the games, they did it. Every so often they even have the “BlackOut” and the first 100 students who arrive at the game get a black t-shirt with some school graphics on it or the black school bookbag with Towson University on it and a black pencil and pen, a small black notepad and some other miscellaneous items. They have also moved into the social networking approach, Doc Minnagin the mascot even has a facebook profile to send invites to every sporting event. I get a invite notification from him about 2 to 3 days before the event to remind me of the game. I am sure he has a twitter and myspace profile also. But that’s not all!

How about the huge glass poster next to Book Holders on York Road, right down the street from the school. I think this was a very clever idea because many students walk up and down that street to go to the book store, food places and the most popular Towson Town Center. The posted schedule is sure to catch a lot of peoples eyes. However, it doesn’t stop there about the second week of school CAB hosts “Parent Week” on Burdick Field. They have a lot of tables set up with different things, games, food and more. When parents fill out the welcome card they are asked to put their e-mail address. My dad receives plenty of e-mails to events at our school and about the games. During my freshman year he actually attended about 2 or 3 of the boys basketball games. The sports committee have a plethora of ways with communicating with the students and making sure they know when the games are. I believe that they were very successful at getting my attention and keeping me up to date with all the sporting events. They use methods like social networking (i.e. Facebook) newspaper, bus stops and huge posters to attract us and make us aware of what is going on. The most successful method I believe is Facebook because some students put this site before homework.

I first planned to explore the “Essence” magazine because of the many different ads that are in the magazine that exploits women and give a objective meaning to them and not the ad. Magazine ads that are for men fragrances and clothes, ads for cigarettes all possessed by men are the ads that change the meaning of women in our culture. I was sitting at my boyfriend house and my niece Aniya comes to me and ask me what I was doing on the computer. I told her about the assignment, she is only in the 3rd grade so she didn’t really understand what I as doing. Except for that fact that I had to look at magazine ads and explain them. Not too much about what they mean and how they represent our culture. Aniya gave me a magazine called “Twist” this is her favorite magazine, it has the inside scoop on all young pop artist and actors like Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers. The Twist magazine has different subtitles for each issue, I used “Hallway Hookups!” issue. Then she helped me look for 5 ads that represents women in a positive way.

The first ad was of Drew Barrymore posing in a CoverGirl photo-shoot advertising their new TrueBlend products. This picture is a head shot of Drew, she has make-up on her face that elaborates her beauty, promoting the products. In this ad, I don’t see her being an example of an object to be possessed by men. I view her as a decent women promoting and selling a product that will attract they eyes of women. Now, men maybe stop and look at the page to admire her beauty and fantasize about her. But overall that is not the message of the advertisement that is just what men think.

The second ad that I looked at was one that advertised Tampax, which are used by women during the time of their monthly menstrual cycle. In this ad there is women sleeping in the bed so calmly, with the a slogan that says “Don’t let Mother Nature interrupt your dreams.” This ad is promoting the best product to use when you get your monthly gift, using Tampax you will rest easily. It stops leaks better than the next leading brand for up to 8 hours, even at night. The comfort of a pad is not likely during the day or even when your sleep. This ad does not send out a negative message to men or women, it is just promoting a product that works very well for women. And women see this it may give them the impression that this product is comfortable for the time it is needed and does not bother you in your sleep.

The third ad that I found was of Kimberly Caldwell posing in a pair of YMI Jeans. These type of jeans are made to fit petit girls who are suppose to have the average size body, however I don’t think so. Usually in ads that for jeans the women is standing up straight but her buttocks is facing the camera, and it shows how the jeans can excentuate her curves. Not in this advertisement. Kimberly is sitting down in this picture, her backside is sitting out the picture so it is not even showing. She is dressed completely in a nice black blouse sporting the YMI jeans. To me this ad does not exploit women in a negative manner, it is just showing off a cool new design of jeans that teens may be interested in.

A fourth advertisement is for a pair of Echo Red shoes. There is a young lady sitting inside a limousine dressed in a black leather jacket and black points, a cool teen shirt and the stylish new Echo Red shoes. She is sitting against the door with her foot in the seat, showing the design and colors of the show. Being as though this is a magazine for teenagers and young adults, there is not too many negative messages that could be taken into context about the ads. The message I get from this picture is a pretty young girl showing off a shoe that is popular in the teen world. She could be sending the message that only young people who are infamous can rock this shoe. So they can then think they are living the life of a star with these cool shoes. Teens these days are into cool shoes with a lot of colors and designs do this is what will catch there attention.

And last but not least, the fifth ad in the Twist magazine that caught my attention was of Danica Patrick. She is posing in a Got Milk? ad with motorcycle attire and holding a helmet to her hip. Of course in all of the Got Milk ads whether it’s a male or female they have the milk mustache and a glass of milk in their hand. The only thing that I can say that this ad is trying to say is that milk is good for the body. The milk mustache is something that all people get when they drink a glass of milk because it is good for the bones. Now the fact that she is posing with motorcycle gear promoting the goodness of milk may send a negative message. It is making milk seem sexy when it is suppose to be nutritious.

The five ads that I have chosen perpetuates a positive image about the women in our culture and the things we need to survive. A lot of ads in magazines whether its Essence, Vibe, Jet, Sister 2 Sister or any other popular magazine have ads that show products that we use in everyday life. Most of the ads that I see in magazines are the ones that catch my eye and make me want to go out and buy the product at that very moment. Don’t get me wrong like I said in the beginning there are some advertisements that exploits women and give off a negative aspect of them but for the most part that is not what is meant.

I would say that Disney movies played an important role in my life and the different items “I had to have.” When I was a young girl I had all the Disney movies for VHS listed on the assignment page. An example of synergy is all the Disney products had the different shoes, pajamas, toys, movies, bedroom decorations and more. Any new product that came out from a Disney movie, I made sure my mom brought it for me. However, there was academic excellence that came with being rewarded all these different things. I remember when I was in the third grade I did so well in school, my parents took me to see Disney on ice. THE BEST SHOW EVER!

The cultural theme and characteristics of the given movies all emerged into the same thing, a happy ending. In Disney movies there is always a climax, when something is discovered or someone need to be rescued. In some movies there is always a beautiful princess with the perfect face and body with long straight hair and a prince charming. When children continue to watch movies like these and begin to get influence by their lifestyle. It gives us the impression that like in these movies, this is how life will be and this how we want to look. So we play dress-up in our mother clothes, shoes, and makeup to look as pretty as Cinderella at the ball. All the princess in Disney movies have the perfect body shape, and models do also, as a little girl this what we look up to because we are expose to these types of images based off of the movies and magazines we are interested in. The only Disney movie that I have seen is most recent when I am now 20 years old is Shrek, his princess Fiona turns into a ogre at midnight. With one kiss from a human man or ogre she can be either for the rest of her life, she decides to stay with Shhrek. Her true love, and appear the same way as him except with a dress. Fiona as ogre is not very pretty and don’t have the perfect body put little girls still enjoy her presence. So just as Ariel from Little Mermaid, skinny with long pretty hair influences little girls, so does Fiona a ogre that is green and thick.

This soon takes affect on our parents and friends because we beg our parents to buy us everything that symbolize these movies and characters. After they go out and purchase all the toys and clothes, they get interested in these things also. My mom was always up to date on all the movies and different items that hit the stores. It affect your friends because when you get something cool, fun and amazing to show off to your friend. They will ask their parents to buy them the same toy or shoes, etc. This is building the profits of the seller and contributing to other people collection of toys and more. When you influence one friend or family member to get the item, then they influence others and the change go on. Christmas comes around and you ask your aunt, uncle and grandparents to get you the MySize Princess doll or the Toy Story Motor car. Some way and some how the people who surround you are influence by the things you like.

It didn’t really affect me until I was older and I realize that Disney movies didn’t have colored characters. It really doesn’t affect me now but it seems as though when we are represented it is by a animal with varied skin complexions. An example of this would be the gorillas in the Tarzan movie. Like the video below shows, he only has friends in the jungle that are animals. Animals are different colors so how does skin complexion or race play a factor in these different movies. Only when these movies are redirected and are remade with real people that we may see black characters, like when Brandy (the singer/actress) played Cinderella. In these cartoons this could give children the impression that black people don’t live fantasy lives like the white prince and princess.

All in all, I do believe that Disney creates a worthwhile shared culture for children and adults. It allows for families to come together and have game night and movie night, this becomes apart of their mini-culture.

Myspace, Facebook & Other Social Networking Sites:

The rage among teenagers and young adults is social networking sites that explore human interaction, activities and communication between them. The most popular social networking sites since 2003 created by two young, enthusiastic adults are Facebook and Myspace. These two sites have attracted the minds of young people and taken over our social lives. On these sites people are able to post statuses about what they are doing or thinking, upload pictures of themselves and special events, play newly designed games like Farmville, plan events and invite whomever they would like, meet plenty of new people and much more.

Social Networking has become like a priority or asset to teenagers. We commit ourselves to it just like a favorite sport or hobby. It is something we look forward to after school or work, or even at school or work. Being able to communicate with our friends and family is important to us and our every day lives.

Networking with Safety And Privacy:

Considering the fact that social networking sites are examples of open source software, the safety and privacy of people is at risk. With these websites it does not take much to sign-up for a profile, just a name (could be a fake name), a password (easy to remember), and date of birth (could be false). On sites like Myspace and Facebook people use it to advertise, promote and sell their music, fashion and other products. For safety issues, products could be people selling themselves and mainly older men looking for young teenage girls to hook-up with and have sexual relations. Men and women do this by changing their identity, a different name, a younger age and using other peoples pictures. However, teenagers change their identity also by using a different name and age, persuading viewers that they are older than what they really are. This results in sexual abuse, rape, kidnappings and other illegal activities. Other products that are being sold illegally is drugs. One famous drug for example is ecstasy. I located an article called “Teens Find Drugs on Social Networking Sites”. It talks about a mother who has a son, who spends a lot of time on the internet. Being a concerned mother, she decided to keep track of his internet activities. She discovered that he was purchasing “purple pokeballs and macintosh thizzles” from a virtual illicit drug store. These are some of the unexpected activities that are happening on these websites.

There are ways that users of these sites can put a privacy block on their profile page, so that people who are not their friends or people they do not accept as friends can view the page. What they don’t know is there is a way to get around the privacy block on the page. People with government jobs and professional jobs are at risk of using social networking sites because they can ruin their reputation. Now human resource managers and supervisors look up employees and interviewees on these sites, just to check their background and see the type of personality they have. I located an article “How To Protect Yourself On Social Networking Sites” it instructs you on what to do and how to protect yourself from these sites. Based on the steps it gives on how to protect yourself from these sites, they seem quite helpful. So if you’re a person who utilize these sites, stay protected and be safe.

Networking on the Cell Phone:

About 2 to 3 years ago students were only being caught using their phone to text message. Not a second would go by that we didn’t wish school was over so we can go straight home and be on the internet for hours. Now, cell phone carriers and the internet has made it easy for us to be online during class time. Young people are even more attached to social networking, now that they are able to access Facebook and Mypace on their phone. This brings up a major issue of concentration in the classroom. Due to this type of merging of technology, students try to multi-task and miss a lot of information that is being given in class. It is said that students who multi-task in class, trying to pay attention and be on their phone at the same time, do worst on test than students who pay direct attention. So its not only trying your hardest not to text your bestfriend about the party you went to last night, its trying not to tell everyone on Facebook, Myspace and Twitter. On Facebook they have a application that you can use to send anything that people do on your profile straight to your phone. So when someone write on your wall, “Hey, how you been?” it is being sent to your phone and your going to be anxious to reply. This makes the teacher feel as though students are being disrespectful and not appreciating the time they are giving to teach them. Being able to access these sites are a distraction to the learning process, but technology and media convergence is growing which means there will be more interruptions to come.

It is more amusing for teenagers and young adults who are really into to technology and cell phones to be most interested in the features of a new cell phone. When teenagers or young adults buy a brand new cell phone, the first settings they work with on their phone is the cool ones. The cool ones like the camera, background, internet and ringtones. This blog will underline the importance of ringtones to young people, and outline the best ringtone website for a cell phone.

There are plenty of commercials that advertise ringtone subscriptions. On these commercials they say “it’s so simple, just text this six digit number with the name of the ringtone and it will sent straight to your phone and easy to download. Then at the bottom in a 4 font writing it includes the charges for every text and ringtone that is not mentioned at all during the commercial. This is not the best way to download ringtones onto your phone because you are being charged when you don’t even no it.

Watching the television station Noggin, one late night, a station for teenagers. A commercial for myxer.com graces the presents of my television and the other thousands of people who are watching the same channel. They pointed how easy it was to download ringtones and you can even customize your ringtone after you find it. However, what caught my attention is that the commercial made it clear that it was free to download ringtones to your phone, directly from the phone or from the internet. Another plus for me was that I could download ringtones for my iPhone, which a lot websites do not have or it cost.

So on one bored day, sitting in the house my bestfriend calls me and my phone rings like a regular house phone. This just was not cool for me. So I decided to see what the myxer website had to offer. The homepage of the website is very intriguing with different ads and links to many different things. Located next to the title of the website it reads “The most Ringtones, Wallpapers, Videos and more for your phone, No subscription or Hidden Fees Ever” which is a major plus to the website. It attracts many viewers and gain a lot of members, that are phone frenzies and download ringtones, wallpapers and videos everyday.

As I look at the website it has 25,954,920 users and 700,514,688 downloads but the hit counter keeps increasing every 30 seconds. It is so popular because you can still download things to your phone and don’t have to sign-up, that’s just a option. Along with the ringtones, wallpapers and videos, you can download games, share the ringtone you found and make your own. Out of all the things that can be downloaded they give you a variety of categories to choose from in each option.

When you click on a link to download something it offers you the pick of the day, most popular, recent downloads, what others have found and shared, a to z directory and make your own. The website has ringtone categories from pop to animal and nature, gospel to comedy, and hip-hop to blues. Wallpaper options like holidays, cars, sports, animals and more. It has animated videos, funny videos and even trailers. Different type of games, such as adventure, racing, puzzles and even Disney. It offers more categories and choices that any person can think of.

The best feature, I think it offers is being able to make your own ringtone, which is a quick and easy process. Using any music software program your have on your computer and any song you would like to make a ringtone, the process in simple. First, you choose the song from the music program file. Then, the site will upload the song, it only take a few minutes. After it finish uploading the song, use the orange slide to pick the section of the song you want. You can also set the length, the volume level and if you want it fade in or out. It creates your ringtone and if you have SMS Text then it will send it straight to your phone in a text or a iPhone, it downloads to iTunes and then you just sync it from there.

I am the type of person who likes to checkout and mess with all the features in my phone when first get it and thereafter. When my friends and family call my phone, I like to have goofy names, spelled with letters and punctuation marks, like /:MoTHer:/. Along with there picture and a ringtone that resembles them, as song they like or what they mean to me. And for any ringtone or wallpaper this is the website that I recommend. I believe that this website very successful in what it has to offer, like it’s convenience, fast and free. It is very entertaining for young people who are interested in cell phone characteristics and appeal.

In all honesty the website is already perfect with the content it offers, and there are no changes that need to be made. However, if I had to make suggestions for additional content it would be that all users have to create a free member in order to develop a history of the items they download. So that if they loose there phone or get a new phone but want the same ringtones, wallpapers, games, etc. they had before, it is as easy as 1, 2, 3 to download again without going through the whole process again.

MYXER IS THE GREATEST…

Without a doubt, the media is a main factor in my life and others’. I use different mediums for just about everything besides a book. The television, I need this to fall alseep every night, just like a toddler needs a story. I have a scenario to tell about which is very funny, and TV was nothing to do without. The internet is what I use the majority of the day because I shop, browse, social interaction and sometimes read the news. Oh and for my homework. The radio and my Ipod are big parts of my entertainment but my Iphone has the lead. My phone is my backbone besides my mommy, this is what I need to survive. Without these gadgets it is like depriving myself of food, I eat media.

Me vs. TV

I chose September 9th and 10th to be my two consecutive days without any of the mediums I use on the daily basis. However, the television was not to hard to avoid because on September 7th the wonderful Comcast threatened to disconnect me and my roommate cable if a payment was not made. Don’t laugh but a payment wasn’t payed by the given date so no cable. I don’t watch much TV anyway during the day so it wasn’t to bad to be without. On the other hand, my house is like a free twenty-four hour Blockbuster. So I have DVDs that can last me forever. But a DVD is a type of media so I had to go without those also. I need the TV to fall asleep so I failed at this task except for when bed time came around and it only takes me like 10 minutes to fall asleep when I am really tired.

Me vs. Radio

On the 9th I was done with class and already done my homework no thanks to the internet because I couldn’t use it. So I got in my cleaning mode and started to clean my apartment. Now, usually I would either have the radio on, a CD playing on the TV, or tunes from Indo’s Ipod but I could utilize any of it. Steadily trying to clean while I am shaking like addict, starting to sweat bullets, knees are trembling and all. I felt so helpless sitting on the floor of my bathroom with yellow cleaning gloves on, all purpose cleaner in one hand and paper towels in the other. I just decided to go to sleep until somebody got home to entertain me.

Last thursday on the 10th I had to take a trip back home which is in P.G. County, about 45 minutes to a hour away from my home in Baltimore. Just my luck that this is one of the days I can’t listen to the radio. And I can’t get on the phone to run my mouth with my bestfriend. I am not crazy nor am I psycho however, I found myself having actual conversations with myself, details and all. I was planning my weekend, thinking of my life and relationship, reminiscing and laughing about things in the past. As if someone was actually a passenger in my car, sitting next to me. I began to wonder what is this really coming to.

Me vs. Iphone

Just recently I brought me a second Iphone, I can say hands down that this is the best cellular phone there is right now, nothing can beat it. I use my phone for the alarm clock, reminders, and especially ENTERTAINMENT. This phone has a application for just about anything you can think of. I have a application for just about anything you can think of, literally. I think I may download atleast 5 or more applications a day, and mess with them all day until I get tired, which is usually never. I have a application for ordering Pizza Hut and Chipotle, a app for Fertility and Period Times, a app for SportsCenter to wordsearch, a app for movie times and theaters to a dictionary helper. But the most occupied application is Facebook, I don’t think you ever would have guessed that. If I am not checking my facebook every five minutes then I am texting someone. I am a texting-finatic and anyone can tell you that abut me. Its like this phone has controls over me.

The only way I could go without touching this phone for two days, is if it was hidden from me in a cave somewhere. But I had a better idea, my boyfriend took my phone from me for these two days. This meant nothing to him because he thinks i pay more attention to my phone than him. So wednesday I had to be to school by 12 o’clock but for some reason I never heard my dog barking alarm go off that morning. Instead I was shaken to death by him at 10:55 am just to wake up that morning. If I wasn’t extremely pissed off at him for that, I was about to strike him right in his nose by reflexes. He had my phone for these two days, so I didn’t have it to take to school go to sleep next to or anything. It never leaves me, my plug is right at the top of my bed by my head and that is exactly where it sits. Not for those two days and honestly I still don’t no where he kept it at the whole time, but who cares she is back in mommy hands.

Me vs. Internet

Not having the internet for two days was harsh but not as much as my precious phone. I need the internet to shop which is a much, to interact socially on facebook and twitter, to do my homework when the internet is needed, and sometimes read the news when I know of something interesting. Last friday I have a news article assignment due but I couldn’t get a article because I couldn’t use the internet. So my boyfriend took the initiative to help me with the assignment and find a interesting. I didn’t trust his judgement to much so I told him that I will find a article really fast and be done. He was not going for that at all, and said no he will do it so I have no choice but to like the article. How dedicated was he to helping me be miserable for two days.

You can believe at 12:01 am on that friday morning I had everything in my house running. I had my log-in and password already typed in to press Enter at 12:01. I had my Ipod and the radio in my bathroom on blast with two different songs. The first person I called was my bestfriend so we can talk each other head off. And every TV was on with no cable but black screens, the movie I watched that night was Holiday Heart. I think we may be threatened by BGE next because of all the electricity I had running that morning.

The Battle is Over!

It is safe to say that media is a major necessity in my intriguing life. Don’t get me wrong I do have priorities and know when to put my school work first. I make time for school work during the day because that’s when I have more focus for it. Like on monday and friday I have one class from 12 to 12:50. After that I go home and get straight to work for assignments due the next day or maybe next week. I also study on tuesday and thursday when I get done class by 4 o’clock, go home take a nap for a hour or two, sometimes longer then get up and get straight to the academics. Later on in the night is when I process nothing but media, the internet and Iphone.

On September 14th and 15th I chose to smother myself with all of my mediums for the whole day. On the 15th I even got in a little bit of trouble with my phone in MCOM class by my professor. I just need it that much, didn’t mean to get in trouble or her to see it but I try my hardest not to use it in her class anymore. When I got home that day I was on the computer ordering from my favorite Betsey Johnson, two purses. Then I was on facebook just about all day except at o’clock when I did my extra credit assignment for Media History video, Then back to the internet it was. I watched like 6 DVDs because don’t laugh because the cable not back on. When I get the next pay check or parents decide to donate to the Indi-Bindi foundation with Chevy Chase Bank then it can get paid.

On the 14th I went to my 50 minute Biology class and came back home. I wasn’t really feeling too well, quite under the weather. I had a tummy ache and I was sneezing way more than normal. Oh trust me it is not the swine flu by far, just something I ate from the weekend. So when I got back home, I basically slept all day until my wonderful boyfriend got home with some soup and ginger ale for me. I really adore him. After that I watched The Things We Lost In The Fire with him, in his arms until I fell back to sleep. As you can see media plays a important role in my life with no question.

Media and technology is growing rapidly everyday. This is how the world transact and moves forward. Without media how would we be informed about what is happening in the world. It is impossible for media not to be used whether it newspaper, computers, televisions or cell phones.
